Acne On The Back

Experts say acne on the back or ‘bacne’ is caused by over production of sebum. This can clog the hair follicles as well as pores which in turn attract bacteria. Some people say this is due to tight clothing and excessive sweating. Back acne is very annoying especially for women as they will not be able to wear any clothes that expose their backs. It is possible to reduce back acne by maintaining personal hygiene and by using some simple home remedies.

Make sure you follow the following steps to keep yourself clean. Keep your back dry by using a powder and also wear cotton clothes. All the clothes you wear including vests, bras, etc. should be clean and towels should be washed regularly. If you have a very active lifestyle and exercise regularly then make sure you wash your clothes regularly. Hygiene is important when we are trying to get rid of acne on the back.

Neem is an effective remedy and taking a shower everyday with a neem based soap will help. You can also boil bath water with a few neem leaves. A paste made of mint juice and turmeric will also help keep the acne in check. If you don’t have a sensitive skin, lemon juice can be left overnight and washed off in the morning. Tomato pulp left on the back for half an hour and then washed off will also help get rid of back acne. Lavender oil on the back can also help keep the acne in check when used regularly. Lavender oil doesn’t need to be washed off.

Potatoes are said to reduce inflammation so if you have swollen pimples on the back, leave these on for sometime. Ground orange peel can be applied to the affected area. Aloe Vera is famous for treating skin problems and works on back acne too. While some of these remedies concentrate on reducing inflammations, others reduce infections. Make sure you use an old T-shirt when you use these home remedies to treat acne on your back so that you don’t ruin good shirts.

Exfoliation is one of the simple ways of getting rid of dead cells. Dead cells tend to build up on the back and this can aid acne formation. You can do this by using an exfoliant or a loofah during showers. Herbal soaps are found to be better for people with back acne than soaps with strong chemicals. If none of these remedies work, then you will need to seek professional help.
